Skate Park

Opened in 2003, Tain’s skate park boasts a range of skate ramps and jumps, designed by the young people in Tain.  The purpose built steel based skate park was built in response to requests from the youth in and around the area and attracts skaters from all around the Highlands.  Regular ‘skate jams’ are held in the summer months which attract sponsorship from local businesses.
PlayparkSet among the beautiful coastal setting of Tain Links is the Tain playpark.  The facilities feature a range of play equipment suitable for both toddlers and primary school age children and lots and lots of space for children to run around!  Picnic tables are also available for parents to relax and enjoy the scenery.

Wildlife Pond

A truly beautiful and atmospheric feature, the wildlife pond was completed in 2004.  A water feature has always been in this area, however in recent years the pond area was becoming derelict and an eyesore.  The Tain Initiative Group undertook the massive task of building a wildlife pond which attracted funding of over £100,000 from a range of environmental funders. The full beauty of the pond, its many plants, trees and wildlife, will not be fully appreciated for a number of years as plants and wildlife need time to colonise, however it is a wonderful to visit regularly and see the developments.

The pond features a pond dipping platform, used by local schools and groups for educational purposes, stunning interpretation panels and seating around the pond to enable everyone to enjoy this area.

Football Pitches

Two well-maintained pitches are located at the Links.  Regular football matches and coaching are run by the three Tain footballs teams.

Walks

The Links area features a range popular formal and informal walks.  Walks are well signposted, with guidance on the distance.  There are walks leaflets available from the Tourist Information Point at Tain Through Time in the town centre.
