Tain Amateur Swimming Club
Tain ASC aims to encourage and develop the enjoyment of competitive swimming. Ability and commitment determine individual progress, but the club aims to try to enable each of its members to progress to individually agreed levels. The club has had swimmers who have reached national and international standard happily training alongside swimmers whose target remains simply to develop their general fitness and enjoyment of a competitive sport.
New members are expected to be reasonably proficient in at least two strokes. Initially new member training takes place on Fridays, during school terms, from 5 – 5.50pm. Thereafter, depending on personal stamina and speed, additional training sessions will be added. Emphasis on maintaining good technique whilst developing speed/stamina and good training practices will be the basis of Club training.
Swimmers are encouraged to monitor their progress by attempting to achieve personal best swims. This could be achieved by competing, or simply taking part in Club time trials. Forthcoming time trials are posted on the TASC noticeboard at Tain Royal Academy Community Complex.
